Who is JF Off-Road?

What’s in a name?

JF Off-Road is the rebranded identity of the JonFund, a group dedicated to 4×4 and Off-Highway recreation, exploration and education in and around Central Connecticut, Massachusetts and New England.

Off highway vehicle recreation is an endangered sport. Available land for members of our sport is on the decrease.  JonFund was formed to work diligently to protect and save our sport for tomorrow. The JonFund was mindful of the importance of being able to own or at least control access to land that we can prevent closure of. This meant that we needed to increase our financial resources or our dreams will never have become a reality. Our pool for land acquisition and management was called “The Fund”. This has allowed Jonfund to become one of, if not the first, OHV club to purchase, own, and control its own piece of land called Brookridge (now managed by the NEA4WD). The land was made available to every club member and even some non club members through special events. The all inclusive term we use to describe all of those people is “Jon”. Now, when you take who the land will be for, “Jon,” and combine it with the name for our pool of money, “Fund,” you get the term “JonFund.” Pretty creative, huh?   Brookridge, formally a Jonfund owned property is now accessible to all NEA member clubs today. Jonfund had achieved its goals! However, after critical learnings, we re-branded in 2016 as JF Off-Road and shifted away from land purchase goals. We are currently a club focused on building relationships with property owners to gain access to trails for all our members and the wheeling community. Jonfund (JF) is still in our name but with a renewed commitment to fun, camaraderie, family and wheeling.

What We Do:

These are the day-to-day goals of our organization:

1. JF Off-Road will continuously work towards the access, conservation or possible land management of open land for use by its members. To that end we will engage in efforts to increase our outreach into our communities seeking these opportunities.

2. JF Off-Road will promote camaraderie and cooperation among its members. To that end we will remain a family oriented club.
3. JF Off-Road will engage in efforts to unite off highway recreationists to stand up against land closures and legislation that endangers the enjoyment of our sport.
4. JF Off-Road will work to identify new places for its members to enjoy their sport. This will be done by actively searching for new locations on an ongoing basis.
5. JF Off-Road will organize monthly events where its members can get together. Together, we can learn, share ideas, encourage one another to become more proficient in the use of our equipment and, of course, have fun through trail rides and special events.
6. JF Off-Road will promote the growth of our sport by giving assistance to those who wish to start their own clubs.
7. JF Off-Road will work with existing clubs or social groups in a consultative manner to help them reach their goals.
8. JF Off-Road will support other off highway groups who share our goal of expanding the number of locations that those interested in off highway recreation can enjoy.
